Quelques mots sur moi et sur l'objectif de ce site.... A few words on myself and the aim of this site Mon nom est Erwin Bosman. Je suis né en 1958, de nationalité belge et je réside aux environs de Bruxelles, dans un village de campagne. Je suis marié à une femme fabuleuse et, depuis 1999 je suis le père d’une très charmante fille. Ma langue maternelle est le néerlandais. De formation, je suis sociologue, mais depuis 1990 je travaille comme fonctionnaire auprès d’un organisme international. Depuis la naissance de ma fille, j'ai développé une vraie passion pour la photo. Au début, celle-ci était surtout ciblée sur la manipulation de la photo numérique; j'avais une envie énorme de maîtriser les tenants et aboutissants de Photoshop. Toutefois, au fil du temps, mon attention s’est orientée sur la photographie pure et simple. J'utilise maintenant Photoshop aux seules fins d’améliorer la photo et d'exprimer le choc visuel que j'ai éprouvé au moment du déclic. Le vrai plaisir de la photographie, c’est de pouvoir transcrire dans une image en deux dimensions cette émotion que l’on éprouve en voyant une scène afin de la communiquer aux autres. Dans cette communication, j'essaie de mettre l'accent sur les formes et lignes pures, en réduisant une composition à ses éléments de base. Je ne cache d'ailleurs pas une certaine admiration pour la photographie contemplative (Miksang). Je photographie exclusivement en format RAW, la conversion étant faite avec Capture One de PhaseOne ou Raw Shooter de Pixmantec.
My name is Erwin Bosman, born in 1958, with the Belgian nationality and living nearby Brussels, in a small village at the countryside. I am married to a lovely woman and I am since 1999 the proud father of a very charming girl. My mother tongue is Dutch. My educational background is that of a sociologist, but since 1990 I am working as a civil servant in an international organisation. Since the birth of my daughter I have developped a real passion for photography. At the start, my passion was almost exclusively oriented towards the manipulation of digital images since I had a real desire to master completely the ins and outs of Photoshop. However, gradually my attention turned towards pure photography. I use Photoshop now merely to enhance a picture and to help to express the visual chock that I felt when pushing the button. The real pleasure of photography is being able to translate the emotion one feels seeing a scene into a two dimensional image in order to communicate that feeling to others. In this communication, I try to put the focus on pure forms and lines, reducing a composition to its basic elements. I don't want to hide a certain admiration for contemplative photography (Miksang).
